Retro-Quote #4: Logan's Run TV

"They have to be careful with the camera with this costume... When I bend over they're in trouble" - Heather Menzies (Logan's Run TV series from a 1977 article shown below - click to enlarge)

Add ImageI highly recommend you read this article. The description of how the show's creators kept making her wardrobe skimpier and skimpier is pretty hilarious. This was the era of so-called "jiggle TV", a time when shows like Charlie's Angels and Three's Company reigned supreme.

Somebody explain to me why this series is not available on DVD? It only lasted 14 episodes, but I loved it! I know that a good digital copy of the series exists, but as of this writing it is only available from iTunes for $1.99 per episode. Sign a petition for the DVD release here.

BTW: Many of you may remember Heather Menzies as Louisa von Trapp from The Sound of Music. Although my personal favorite is her role in Piranha (1978).

  2. This is sweet little Louisa? I will never be able to watch this series considering The Sound of Music is my favorite movie of all time. I have a tough time finding sex appeal in former sweet and innocent child stars because I will always remember them that way.
Case in point: Rob Zombie's 2007 Halloween. The actress who plays the slutty Judith Myers (Michael's sister) is none other than the sweet little Jenny Curren yelling "Run Forrest!" from the movie Forrest Gump in 1994.

  4. I loved this show as a kid and just started watching it again on Itunes. It definitely comes from a simpler time. By the way, what's up with the title of that article? Did they really considered Logan's Run and kid show...that they were trying to sell to adults with sex?

  5. Quirky a sit sounds, I fell for Heather when she appeared in CAPTAIN AMERICA, with Reb Brown in the drum major costume. When CBS did a sequel, getting the uniform right and casting Christopher Lee as the villain, Heather was gone and in stepped TV familar Connie Sellecca. Not the same at all...

  6. Yeah, well, I was 10 when the Logan's Run TV show came out, and I totally kept my eyes glued onto that chick in the short dress, looking for those panty-shot moments (of which I think there were one or two!!

  7. That UPI, uh, deconstruction of wardrobe is indeed funny, and a bit reminiscent of the infamous "oregon exploding whale" commentary, available at your neighborhood YouTube franchise.

  8. I was only eight years old at the time , and I certainly noticed !! I never went through a period where I did not like girls . Do most boys hate girls at that age ??
