Mini Skirt Monday #41: Minis in Advertising

"The Mini Skirt: Much like the length requirement of a college paper. Long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to keep things interesting."
- anonymous

Time for another round of miniskirts. This time we're looking at those high hemlines featured in vintage advertising. We're lookin' at ads from around 1968 - 1973, the primetime for minis, when every catalog and every magazine was filled to the brim with the glorious miniskirt. So, sit back and enjoy a time when minis were in vogue and men were very, very happy.

  1. I'm not sure what an 'Exciter' is but if a hot blonde in a mini can't distract you from your motorcycle or snowmobile you should look into it.
Maybe he should be in the 'Gay Gibson' ad.

  2. Love the quote at the top. I don't if the outfit on the Jade East ad qualifies as a mini. It look more like a sweatshirt that she is stretch down enough to cover everything.

  4. You just can't have too many miniskirts, can you--so is it just my perverted imagination, or am I really seeing the Viceroy girl's undies?? Thanks Gilligan--and Viceroy cigarettes!

  5. apachedug- Wow. Hadn't noticed the Viceroy panties - astute observation, sir.

Retro Hound - I believe I cropped that from a Jukebox ad.

Metal Mark- My definition of miniskirt is pretty broad - a lot of these that I post are technically mini dresses, and not skirts at all. But I think it'd get tiring to constantly specify.

Ryoki- The Hai Karate ads were the worst - the ads featured smoking hot babes grooving on weasley men, and they ward them off with martial arts? If not gay, then don't fight it, get down on knees and thank your maker!

  6. The Lord of the Douchebags! Saw him once in Montreal during his now forgotten 3/4 season with the Expos. Loud booing from the home crowed each time he came to the plate! That said, he should be in the HOF.
