I've mentioned this many times before, but it's an endless source of bewilderment and frustration for me, so here I go again: Of all the posts published on Retrospace over the past two and a half years, my "spanking post" far outpaces all the others in hits per day. Yes, a post that I put together during a lunch break (which wasn't even really about spanking in a kinky sense) remains my number one post.

You might wonder why I'm still astonished by the fact that a post with a sexual connotation would be popular. It's not that I'm naive, it's just that I put a lot of time and energy into some of these posts, and it's a bit frustrating to see that half-assed spanking post is the one that gets the most traffic.

Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Here's a collection of vintage spanks that a I threw together in about fifteen minutes. Let's see what happens.

Note: There's 41 pictures total; although, there may be a few in there twice.

  1. Next time someone comments on your spanking post may I suggest that you send them over to the Sloss Life, but be wartned it is very very disturbing.

  2. sex sells. Even if it isn't meant to be sexual, it will turn that way.

  3. Yes. A good deal of those "originated" on my vintage sleaze
blog, and I've found the same thing.
There's a lot of browsers interested in the upturned rump, I reckon.

  4. Ah, the public.
The bane of the true artist.

Your pour out your blood, sweat, and tears for a week to create the penultimate blog post, and all you get is a few, "interesting," responses.

You pound out a silly idea, over lunch, and it becomes your signature piece, hailed by the unwashed masses as the true example of your genius.

No matter how many times you say, "Thank you, but look at THIS piece over here." The crowds just say, "That's nice, but WOW look at THAT piece."

Your true work is just not appreciated in its time.

    The people have spoken.

  5. Very telling of the sexism in our society that only ONE out of all those pictures showed a man possibly being spanked (the Santa Claus one).

Now, I'm not against consensual spanking (not one bit!) but it does say a lot that the women are the ones being hit.

The images are not from consensual spanking, and women spanking men demands some kind of consensus. I approve of men spanking women when the women have started by hitting or kicking the men. It usually has a good effect, as it also had in (most of) these cases.

  6. I have a totally unimportant blog on old movies and the one post that has gotten the most hits has been what I thought was a fairly intelligent review of a book on the topic of censorship in American cinema. The post is titled "Hollywood, sex sin and violence onscreen" and I find it demoralizing that this is my #1 hit... with an overwhelming number of hits originating in Saudi Arabia!
