Mini Skirt Monday #61:

Found this article in an old British magazine on the new sensation known as The Mini Skirt.  Hope you enjoy it.... for its historical significance, of course.

"Nothing has been more talked about, nothing has been looked at with so much keen eyed interest as the mini.
Girls who wear the mini are called dollies and those are the dollies who in the midst of political outcries, depreciating currencies and protest marches have contrived to give us all the impression that the world is still an entirely lovely institution - if only the bigheads would leave it alone."

Amen

"There are all sorts of silly records, like the longest pole sitter and the best sausage eater.

Holder of a record that is lovely, however, is student Julie Mitchell.  She's the wearer of most micro of micro-minis, which means that if you want to see the girl with the mostest as far as lovely legs are concerned, you'd better invite Julie to join you for lunch on campus."

In case you're interested, the magazine is called Beautiful Britons; the cover reads "Mini Mania"

  1. Interesting. Do you know the date of publication for this? I would hazard, as it's described as a new sensation, that it might be sometime in 1966 although late 1965 is thought to be the time when mini skirts were first worn by women in public.

  2. I would guess 1970, certainly for the Julie Mitchell pic.

My mum won a Miss Mini Skirt competion in the local paper once
