Mini Skirt Monday #67: Party Time

Feb '71 (found photo)

This round of miniskirt images all center around that youthful pastime - the party.  In my day (said in a shaky old man voice) we took kegs to the woods or annexed a house with out-of-town parents.  Of course, there were always those parents who wanted nothing more than to be "cool" to their kid's friends, and they'd let you drink, smoke and all manner of other illicit activities at their house.  My kids aren't quite at that age yet (and maybe they'll never be as stupid as I was), but I can only assume things haven't changed much.

Indeed, generations come and go, but one thing that never changes is youth acting like drunken fools at parties.  I would imagine if they had Polaroids back in the Roman or Medieval days, the fashions would be different, but the pictures would look just like these.  Just picture the photo above with the boys in leather jerkins and the girls in bodices and farthingales.

Is this a dance move, or has she just been slapped? (found photo)

The last two pictures are from the same party where they're putting on some serious dance moves.... and it looks as though the girl is getting smacked in the face by the dude in the ascot.

wallflower

I rather like this one.... mainly because I can't tell what the hell is going on.  The the pants of the disheveled character in the foreground are literally in tatters.  Did he just get attacked by wolves? What's the story here? Why does the clean cut gentleman in the back get the girl, while this fellow in rags have to be a wallflower? I guess we'll never know.

Sausagefest

The guy to girl ratio at this party seems a bit unbalanced.  I'm counting four guys, one girl in this picture.  I think the appropriate term here is "sausagefest".

  1. Really wanna see Retro-Fashion - just watch old 70's movies like Billy Jack or Born Losers, the Movie Blow, was fairly accurate or even Goodfellas and Casino and of course Easy Rider !

  2. Ohh, I better correct 2 movies before somebody jumps on the bandwagon - Blow was a look back made in 2002 - and Goodfellas in 90' and Casino in 95' .

  3. I'm digging the paper cups they're drinking out of in the "attacked by wolves" photo.

  4. OMG (to quote the kids today)
I love the pictures of the parties.
I am amazed at how fashions have changed but people have not. I have seen these exact same poses at every party I have attended since middle school.

    Great post for Miniskirt Monday.

  5. I'm friends with several college students on facebook and the pictures they post are the exact same poses! Amazing.

  6. These photos are actually rather tame. At least nobody's mooning the camera! LOL

You are right in regards to how kids still know how to party and make idiots out of themselves. Nowadays, they go to clubs or raves and dance around with glow - sticks waving wildly. How does the old saying... "Plus ca change, plus c' est la meme chose"?

  7. *How does the old saying GO...

I have an excuse for my poor grammar today -- I'm tired and cranky. LOL

  8. Dig the girl's leather skirt in the third picture! I love the 70s more all the time.

  9. The guy on the phone in the sixth picture looks like he is drunk dialing, the forerunner of drunk texting. I can just hear him say "Is your refrigerator running?' or "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?" I also like the one of everyone sitting or standing around a bar, and one girl is leaning over holding her head. Those kids did not have a good time the next day.

  10. There's that attractive blonde that was in another picture of a wedding party.

I used to enjoy when my parents had a party, since one of our very attractive neighbors would show up wearing a short skirt or dress. She sat down next to me once wearing such a garment. I wanted to look down so much, but was petrified (take that any way you like ;).

  11. Have you noticed that many of the women in the pictures are attractive and many of the guys are not? Makes me think that many women had to settle for what was out there at the time, lol.
