Miniskirt Monday #112: Couples

Perhaps it's just a testament to the transcendental power of the miniskirt, but it would appear that the females in these photos have a leg up (pardon the pun) on their male partners.  Certainly not in every case, but it sure seems like there's a mismatch in a lot of these photographs, where the goofy guy should be thanking his lucky stars to be standing where he's standing.

Don't get me wrong.  This isn't a case where every girl is a stone cold fox and every guy is an unworthy nerd.  I'm just saying that, taken as a whole, there's a pattern here.  Tell me what you think.

There´s a pattern for sure. The guy in #32 is the most obvious example. Is he stinking rich? Is the girl looking for a sugar daddy? Or has she actually severe trouble with her eyesight? Anyway, there´s hope for all of us.

  2. I had a belt like the guy in 26 and a pair of plaid pants like the guy in 28. Unfortunately, I probably put out a vibe to chicks more like the nerd in 27! Pants tucked into your socks? C'mon!

  3. You know, ever Miniskirt Monday, I find myself thinking the same thing: The decline of the miniskirt in America has led to the obesity epidemic. If Minis were as popular now as they were then, women would be working harder to stay in shape so they could look their best in minis, and men would 1) get their heart rates going faster just seeing the great legs exposed by minis and 2) work out to stand a better chance to be with these women.

    Just sayin'

I love the looks on the faces of these guys. Either thinking "I'm cool" or "Oh my God, I'm with this girl in a mini skirt! I can't believe it!"

  5. It may be just me, but I think most of these guys are pretty cute...but then again I do like what many consider "nerdy" guys.

I think a lot of the guys are cute. My husband looked a lot like Mr. 7 in the seventies.

We know why the girl in #2 is so interested...that's Stephen Stills.

    1. #0 is kind of a cross between John Sebastian & Peter Tork, IMHO. Also, that gal he's will is super hot! Best looking lady in the whole set, also IMHO.

  9. I think it's mainly the men's clothes and hair that's the issue. We (and by we, I mean men) tend to over look the horrid fashions on the women because MINISKIRT! The hair and the clothes on the men were perfectly normal then but we (again, us men) cringe now because, quite frankly, we looked like idiots then. The girls don't look like idiots (except to maybe other girls) because MINISKIRTS!

There is another factor at play and that's the relative maturity of high school (I assume most of these pictures are of high school aged kids) boys and girls. A few years ago I had the opportunity to chaperone a formal dance of high school aged ROTC students. The girls in ROTC had to wear formal dresses while the ROTC boys wore their uniforms. All of the girls looked like women while the guys looked like boys playing soldiers.

  10. #4 is definitely the happiest. She must have given him a "hand" with something upstairs to give him a smile like that.

The only explanation for "goofy" guys is the combinations of hairstyles, glasses, clothing, and so on. In defense of these guys and girls, the "goofy" factor is pretty evenly divided. Being I guy, I can't assess the sexual attraction these fellows possessed when not posed and self-conscious. Some of the girls look pretty silly. Many women seem pretty to me, in one way or another. Outre or dated outfits always look goofy after the styles have changed in the course of time. I try to chose clothing that is as close to classic style as possible. Fashion, though, is fickle by nature. I once looked worse than any of these guys, garishly and incongruously decked out in dashiki, of all things, and huge sideburns. I saw a photo of myself like that and turned crimson with the realization that I had been truly an idiot. I may still be; but I hope never to look as strange as that again as in that early 70's photo.

Most egregious combination would be #26. She's angelic; he's a punkin.
