Mini Skirt Monday #132: Homecoming Queens

One of these days I'll do a post on Homecoming/Prom Kings and Queens without the miniskirt connection.  I think you'll get a kick out of the fashions these popularity contest winners wore in the seventies and eighties.  But this is Monday and that means Miniskirts.  And if you happened to be a lucky gal crowned queen during the early seventies, chances are you wore a miniskirt... as did your entire court. Let's have a look, shall we?

  2. Queen #36 doesn't look very happy about having to ride on that paper mache skunk.
On another note, I think you can tell a school's dress code concerning skirt length my looking at these photos. In some districts it was limited to a few inches above the knee and in other districts it must have been pretty much anything goes.

  3. what's with a ll the BIG poofy flowers? The are featured in at least 10 or more photos. I can completely see my mom wearing the plaid/burberry patterned skirt suit with those glove. Well maybe not the gloves.

  4. I would love a "Where are they now?" photo on 12-13 and 19-20.
Was this the start of a happy, successful life, or the height of it?

    Great post, as usual.

  5. mums, being a fall flower, are traditional for homecoming. Texas tends to do them bigger and better than anywhere else, and they don't even need flowers anymore: http://galvestondailynews.com/story/347986

  6. I'm sorry, but Brian DePalma and Carrie have ruined these kinds of photos forever for me. There is no way to UnCarrie these images.
