Time once again to check out some of the interesting imagery being posted on Retrospace Zeta. First up is a picture of a Chinese woman printing dirty pictures under the nose of Mao. Nothing special about it really, but I was fascinated to see numerous sites where people theorized about the source of this curious image - I mean real academic discussions!
You can take an image and upload it to TinEye and it will reverse search billions of images and try to track down its origin.... it ended up being some Russian political site discussing communism. Little do all these people know, I grabbed this photo from an old National Lampoon!
Anyway, here's a few of my favorite images from Retrospace Zeta from the past month or so. Enjoy.
I had a good laugh when I discovered that a lot of blogs which reposted this image actually thought it was real. I mean, the 70s had the sexual revolution and all, but c'mon! (This also came from an old National Lampoon.)
I re-posted your picture of the Red Guard woman at the printing press under the title of "Cultural Revolution Porno." Who knows how many people got my little joke, but I thought it was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteSo thank you.
So... how does the one girl know about the other's "intimate odor"?
ReplyDeleteI love that old K-Mart logo. That's how I remember the store. They should have never changed the logo.
ReplyDeletePeanut butter was Chuck Heston's favorite food & always made sure he brought some with him when he went on location.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, your mystery picture is from another National Lampoon piece, a zeppelin travel brochure done by Bruce McCall, with all-German text. My favorite picture has the caption "Mmm...milch!"
ReplyDeleteThe last photo is from a Turkish movie called "3 Dev Adam"

I see Vince beat me too it with the zeppelin. From the dinners attire, I would guess sometime after the Hindenburg, as a parody to the skeleton crew with everyone smoking and the lightening outside. Perhaps it was a warning against being comfortable.
ReplyDeleteSide note: Love the stripper pole in the corner.
YES! These last few comments are a huge reason why I love doing this blog. I never in million years could've remembered or found out on my own. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIs the 7th pic supposed to be the Hindenburg?
