I imagine this series of posts will be complete somewhere around 2017.... provided the Mayans weren't right about our collective arrivederci in 2012. It's a daunting task, but one that hopefully posterity will thank me for. I've been requested by several of you to hand out an A-Z zip file of all the covers. Patience, dear readers. Patience.
In the meantime, this post is brought to you by the letter "C".

You have a way of making a girl feel . . .
ReplyDeleteinadequate.
Maybe it is my romanticism, but these covers gave these girls class. They also look like they work for it. They did not just show up for the camera like so many magazine covers and internet sites.
These girls (or their photographers) worked at being sexy. I'd like to believe that guys appreciated that in those days.
The cover of Caress looks like Phyllis Diller.
ReplyDeleteCripes, cancel my subscription. Who's next month's cover girl, Ruth Bader Ginsburg?
Candida is NOT a good name for a girlie magazine. Unless you have a really specific fetish.
ReplyDeleteGeez maybe they shouldn't be referred to as "girlie". Those, my friend, are sumptuous magazines. So if a guy likes this does make him "girlie" too?
ReplyDeleteI wonder.
