As perfectly as the miniskirt and the boot went together, it was a fleeting fashion that only lasted a few years - roughly, from the late sixties until '71. Granted, girls still wore them on occasion, but it was largely a trend of the 'shagadelic' era.
I am happy to report that college campuses in the US are currently flooded with minis & cowboy boots (and, oddly enough, winter boots). Without question, nothing will compare to the iconic go-go boot, but beggars can't be choosers.

Great collection of photos. All that's missing here is a picture of Jeannie C. Riley!
ReplyDeleteLove the Japanese 45 sleeve with Rika Aoki, star of the three "Rica" movies released by Toho in the '70s.
Superb! It's criminal that this style hasn't been replicated of late :(
ReplyDeleteThe first color image: MERCY DAY!
ReplyDeleteMan I miss the 70's.
ReplyDeleteAnother great post.
Thanks for making me feel old.
The woman standing in front of the white piano looks remarkably like the actress Barbara Hershey (or Barbara Seagull as she was known for awhile after the movie "Johnathan Livingston Seagull").
ReplyDeleteThe mini's make Mondays a lot more fun...:)
the girl in front of the piano is Ally McGraw
ReplyDeleteWas I hallucinating or did I see Twiki the robot from "Buck Rogers" in one of those pics?
ReplyDeleteHitchdawg
Looking at these makes me wish I had the figure for this look. There is something so feminine yet funky about it that's missing from today's women's fashion. However, I'm simply too fat to do that.
ReplyDeleteAlso the guy with the bell bottom overalls is seriously creeping me out. He's got a moose knuckle thing going on down below and he looks like the lead singer of Billy Hill & The Hillbillies.

While I'm still a sucker for short skirts and heels, I won't gripe about short skirts and boots. MMMM.
ReplyDeleteAh, PSA stews; I was born too late.
Yup, that was Buck Rogers alright, 1980-style.
ReplyDeleteWhat may be missing from the wonderful collection above is the icon of mini skirt and boots, that other SciFi series right from the proper era.

Great collection of pictures. I love women wearing boots and my favorite era was those late 70s years, when women were wearing very high heeled boots everywhere, with plaid skirts and skinny jeans. The ugly 80s fashion killed that wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteThe main picture is a promotional still for one of the many 'Carry On' films that were made between 1955 to 1985 and features Bernard Breslaw, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey and Roy Castle. I will try to find out who the young lady is but remember he being more famous for a raunchy rum advert of the period.
ReplyDeleteThe young lady in question is. Valerie Leon.
Deletelove miniskirts and boots. Nuthin makes legs look hotter
