Look into that dummy's cold dead eyes... .what do you see? Unspeakable evil, perhaps? This advertisement is the stuff of which nightmares are made..... but this is nothing compaired to this Neiman Marcus advert from 1972....
This is truly the most horrific thing I've ever seen. I am at a loss for words. I don't know what's more disturbing - the simple fact that this even exists.... or that the woman's mannequin looks more alive than the woman herself!
I don't even want to think about what this sick family did with their expensive "toys". The possibilities will haunt my dreams.
This whole "narcisism gone wild" thing reminds me of an old ad I found in the back of a teen magazine. I can't put my finger on why, but there's just something inherently creepy about it.
Oh my god... that is just amazingly horrific. How many people took part in this offer, I wonder? And how unlike themselves did the dummies really look??? Scary stuff. Surprised we didn't get a horror film based on this!
ReplyDeleteRegarding that "personal mannequin" ad, I need to quote you, from a few days back..
ReplyDelete"God, I love the 70s..."
Al Bigley
The woman's mannequin looks nauseated, which seems like a perfectly sound reaction.
ReplyDeleteHeh, the next time I'm in Pasadena, I might actually drive by 474 S. Arroyo Parkway to see if "The Poster People" are still there!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there might still be a record at Neman Marcus of who actually bought those dummies. Imagine if the mouths opened and closed. *shudder*
ReplyDeleteI think there is a site out there somewhere that makes bobble heads of people. I have never seen such a thing as a life size model though.
ReplyDeletegrossss!
ReplyDeleteShades of the movie Tourist Trap!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Neiman Marcus had connections to the Delos Corporation ?
ReplyDeleteWow. I really am scared.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing scarier than the mannequins, is that guy's suit. Also I think the teenage girl in the poster ad wouldn't be so scary if she had used less eyeliner. She looks like an extra in Carnival of Souls.
ReplyDeleteI looked into the dummy's eyes and saw the horrors of which you speak. But what about the puppet's eyes?
ReplyDeleteThe mannequins look like those creepy ones used in the nuke tests. That blonde (nice gams, btw) in the ad for the picture looks equally creepy with all the camo paint on her eyes.
ReplyDeleteRead the description in the mannequin ad.
ReplyDelete"Programmed to laugh at your jokes or say yes to you in any language."
Talk about your "Stepford" spouse.
I understand Apple will have a app for this on the next iPhone.
Those mannequins are out of hand! How bizarre!
