This cool Jack Davis illustrated ad got me thinking - how about a music ad post? Even better - how about a music ad post where you can listen to the songs promoted in the ads? After thoroughly congratulating myself on the idea, I put it together. And here it is
.
What's that in the back of the Partridges' bus? Looks like an arm from a giant mantis or some type of bug.

ReplyDeleteThe Supremes had a very big-sound towards the end of their run. This tune & "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" are good examples of that sound.
ReplyDeleteReally didn't care for Grin, they just kept saying the same thing over and over.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Jefferson Airplane though, so that makes up for it. Also like Shocking Blue and The Gentrys.
Cool concept, having the songs with the ads.
The Gentrys lead singer went on to bigger fame in a different arena....anyone know?
ReplyDeleteThe Gentry's lead singer is none other than "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart
DeleteGreat posting - good tunes to boot.
ReplyDeleteThe Gentrys' cover of Cinnamon Girl was pretty boring. I couldn't track down that Jefferson Airplane track. It sounds like something from their later days. I didn't even know that Shocking Blue had another song after Venus. Didn't care much for Mighty Blue.
ReplyDeleteoh man I still have the Partridge Family song on 45
