Album Covers #39: Top Hits!

Way back in 2008 I posted on album cover cheesecake and gave some examples using those Top Hits / Top of the Pops records as examples.  Well, here we are nearly five years later, still talking about the same damn thing.  I guess that means the next one's due in 2018.

Anyway, when you have a "top hits" album you have basically two options:  (1) You can opt for the K-Tel route aimed at kids and give them little pictures of the various artists or (2) You can opt for the Tops of the Pops approach aimed at teenagers and up and give them plenty of titillating eye candy.

Herein are a little of both. Enjoy.

  4. There are some compilations from the late 50s and early 60s of Doo-Wop and R&B that have covers with teenage girls in pajamas at some sort of sleep over.

  5. I didn't know they used that pic of Carol for a cover. Nice!

I have Greased Lightning. Posted it on my blog, too. And I think everyone had Golden Treasures!

That yellow shirted 'cake (5th from the bottom) is extremely perky. She must be standing in front of an off-camera open fridge looking for syrup for this morning's pancakes.

  7. I'll take K-Tel covers, thank you.

  8. The one in the red striped top looks like a lady-man!

  9. Holy smokin' shoeleather Batman - my mom actually owned that K-Tel album with the rainbow cover: Superstars Greatest Hits (original hits original stars). plus a host of other equally quality recordings.
